I visited my local rubbish tip today, they have an Age UK charity shop next door where you can donate items that are still useful. I love this place as I nearly always come home with some oddity or other and today was no acception.

This may look like a random pile of junk, but let me explain!

Coasters are a crafters best friend, they can be used as bases for small figures for scenes and are much cheaper than purchasing from craft stores, albeit you need to clean them up and cover them. But they're very cheap and very versatile.

I spotted these port/sherry glasses and thought they would be perfect for a project I want to do in the future featuring little creatures on desserts and sundaes. They're a much smaller scale than real dessert glasses and bowls so are ideal for me to work with. I found the blue one first and thought it was stunning, and promptly got carried away and picked up quite a few.

I have a bit of an adiction to picking up trinnket pots, especially flowery ones. This one is bisque (a pourous, matt-like procelain) that makes it easier to paint over. To date, I only have one model where I've used a trinket pot with but I love the way it turned out so I collect any I like the look of for future use.

As a 90s child, I have a soft spot for hard plastic toys and I like to collect random little figures, I have a trinket shelf in my home office that's quite full! I'm not sure if I'll re-paint them or keep their silly face as it is.

This forgotton little mermaid is in desperate need of a re-paint and I couldn't resist picking her up. I'll do a process blog on her transformation when I get round to it. I have so many projects to do, she may be waiting a while.

My final find is this cat mask, I noticed it has a finger print in the paint so must have been hand painted. I'd like to repaint it and hang it in my hallway of curios. I'll also blog the re-paint project, perhaps add some leafing onto it.

So you see? What initially looked like a pile of rubbish is really a plethora of treasures!😅 I'm looking forward to showing you these items being put to use in future posts.
